Abstract
Bladder cancer, the fourth most common non-cutaneous malignancy in the United States, is characterized by high recurrence rate, with a subset of these cancers progressing to a deadly muscle invasive form of disease. SAM68 (Src-associated in mitosis of 68 kD), which plays a critical role in cancer, in this study, we aimed to quantify the SAM68 gene expression, and to determine the possibility that SAM68 can be used as prognostic role in muscle invasive bladder cancer. Western blot and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis revealed that the protein level of SAM68 was higher in (MIBC) tumor tissues. In addition, SAM68 stain revealed that SAM68 was positively correlated with clinical pathological variables such as tumor grade and tumor invasion. Taken together, these observations suggest that SAM68 could be an independent prognostic indicator for patients’ overall survival.
