Abstract
The prevalence and the number of young patients diagnosed with rectal cancer have made it as one of the major health problems in the world. With regard to the improved access to and use of modern screening tools, a number of new cases are diagnosed each year. Neurokinin receptor-1 (NK1R) was able to promote malignant transformation of cancer cells, and may contribute to tumor progression and promote distant metastasis in human cancer. Little is known about the expression of the NK1R in rectal cancr and its molecular basis in tumorigenesis. We investigate the NK1R expression in human rectal cancer cell lines and role of NK1R antagonist and analyzed both growth response and downstream mechanisms using western blot, confocal microscopy, MTT-assay. The findings give important insight into the molecular mechanisms of the SP/NK1R as a critical component in significant growth of rectal cancer cell lines and tumorigenesis. Further, could help to identify future anticancer therapies for rectal.
