Abstract
Cervical cancer is the most common cause of deaths due to any cancer in developing countries and the number of these is ten times that in developed countries. It is the third most common cancer in women after breast and colorectal cancer. Although the surgical skills and adjuvant chemotherapy have been improved, the survival rate of gastric cancer patients remains unsatisfactory. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between cervical cancer metastasis and activator of transcription-3 (STAT3) expression by immunohistochemical method and in situ hybridization to further demonstrate the mRNA expression of STAT3 in cervical cancer. Data from in vitro and in vivo studies on cervical cancer cells have revealed role of STAT3 to promote the survival and inhibit the apoptosis of cervical cancer cells.
